Former SPINESHANK Singer Explains His Departure

January 14, 2004

Former SPINESHANK frontman Jonny Santos has issued a statement via the band's official forum explaining his reasons for leaving the group.

His statement reads as follows:

"Hello everyone. First off, I would like to thank everyone who has stuck by SPINESHANK over the years. You are the single most important people to myself and the rest of the guys.

"I am sorry that this has happened, but it was inevitable at this point. This was not an easy decision for me, but one that I felt I needed to do.

"It is true that we have had creative differences over the last several years, but I always tried to be positive and contribute my part as a vocalist for the band. I am very proud of what we've accomplished as a band and will never harbor any regrets. It was my life for the last 8 years and it is something I will hold close to my heart forever. [However] I feel that it is time for all of us to move on.

"Tommy, Mike and Rob are amazing creative people and I have no doubt that they will make an awesome next record for you guys. I wish them only the best luck in wherever they go.

"As for myself, I am currently in the studio tracking demos for a new project that I've been working on for a while. We have 15 songs and I hope to be in the studio [recording a full-length album] by this summer. As soon as we have a name you will be the first to know.

"I can understand that so many of you may be hurt by this split, but the bottom line is that I just wasn't happy anymore. I hope that all of you can understand that. You guys are so important to me and hope you guys will stay true to SPINESHANK. I will have something new for you guys real soon.

"I hope this has cleared up a lot of unanswered questions for everyone. I love you all very much and I will continue to create music for all of you."
